Visa and The Asia Foundation Launch Vee Together to Strengthen Cambodia’s Tourism MSMEs

PHNOM PENH, February 27, 2026 – Tourism micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are central to Cambodia’s economy. To strengthen their resilience and competitiveness in an increasingly digital marketplace, The Asia Foundation, with support from Visa and in partnership with Wing Bank and Good Return, today launched Vee Together by Visa – Driving Tourism Businesses in Cambodia. The initiative is designed to strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of tourism MSMEs—particularly women-owned and rural enterprises—by expanding digital payments adoption, financial education, and business development skills nationwide.

Backed by Visa’s Digitally Inclusive Commerce Ecosystem (DICE) framework, Vee Together aligns with Cambodia’s Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework and broader private sector development priorities. Senior representatives from the Royal Government of Cambodia, financial institutions, development partners, and private sector stakeholders attended the official launch in Phnom Penh, underscoring a shared commitment to strengthening tourism MSMEs and expanding financial inclusion.

Expanding Access to Digital Finance and Business Skills

Tourism MSMEs—including guesthouses, tour operators, artisan vendors, food businesses, and transport providers—generate employment and income across Cambodia. Yet many enterprises continue to operate primarily in cash, limiting access to formal credit, digital financial services, and data-driven business tools. These constraints restrict growth and reduce their ability to compete in Cambodia’s expanding digital economy.

Vee Together addresses these gaps and supports Cambodia’s digital economy strategies via practical, integrated support model delivered by The Asia Foundation and partners:

  • Financial education and improved access to credit
  • Business advisory and market development support to strengthen competitiveness and operational efficiencies
  • Targeted outreach to women-owned and rural enterprises to promote more inclusive participation in Cambodia’s digital economy

Each Vee Together partner brings complementary expertise: Visa’s global leadership in digital payments; Wing Bank’s extensive financial infrastructure; Good Return’s experience in financial capability and inclusion; and The Asia Foundation’s decades of work advancing private sector development and inclusive growth in Cambodia and across the region.

The Phnom Penh launch featured remarks from representatives of the Ministry of Tourism, National Bank of Cambodia, Visa, and Wing Bank, reinforcing collaboration to strengthen tourism MSMEs and expand financial inclusion nationwide.

“MSMEs sit at the heart of Cambodia’s tourism ecosystem and equipping them with the tools and knowledge to succeed in the digital economy is essential for long-term competitiveness,” said Thomas Parks, vice president for strategic partnerships at The Asia Foundation. “Our partnership with Visa, Wing Bank, and Good Return reflects a shared commitment to inclusive economic growth and digital empowerment across Cambodia.”
